As I sit on the couch watching Sex and the City (saying all of this in my mind in Carrie Bradshaw’s voice), biting straight from a block of cheese and finishing off a bottle of $10 wine, I’m trying to put together the perfect summary of 2016. The year that hopefully we will never have to talk about again after everyone gets over their New Year nostalgia. But, in reality 2016 was the year we all needed.
This was (as Kylie said) the year of realizing stuff. In order to realize what wasn’t working, this year broke everything down and shed light on what needed to be changed.
So I guess my summary of 2016 is a lot of bad tinder dates, relationships and friends that taught me a lot about loving myself and putting myself first. And, a lot of cheap wine and a new kitten to get me through it. But, 2016 had to happen and 2017 will be better because of it. In 2017, I can take these realizations and turn them into actions.
In 2017, my resolution is to start taking care of myself. Yes, I will be that person using my gym membership for the first time ever on January 1st. I will also be sure to drink red wine more often because I heard it’s good for your heart (right?). I will put myself first and do what makes me happy and surround myself with people that make me happy.
Oh and, I have a lot of fun new ideas for the blog coming in 2017!
I want to thank everyone who reads this blog (hi mom) and has supported me throughout this past year as I try to build this blog and my Instagram. It has been a lot of fun getting to learn more about myself through this creative outlet and sharing my adventures with you.
Here is my favorite quote because I’m not sure how to end this and I feel like it’s always good to remember:
“The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be.” -Marcel Pagnol
(it’s also the tattoo on my back because what better place to put your favorite quote than somewhere you can’t read it)
