*I have decided to switch from Flashback Friday to #tbt because I can. Deal with it.*
The best thing about New York City is that you have an entire world in one city. You have everything from Chinatown to Little Italy, the hustle of Wall Street to the serenity of Central Park, the skyscrapers of Midtown to the boardwalk of Coney Island.
My friends and I decided to enjoy the last Saturday in August by the beach at Coney Island. For just a swipe of your MetroCard, you can be transported from city life to a beach getaway. We walked around a bit looking at all of the shops and restaurants, though the boardwalk was not as long as I had expected it to be, and then we finally decided we couldn’t go to Coney Island and not get a Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog. We stood in the long line and waited for our hot dogs and then found a nice bench to use as a table.
We decided after eating a massive hot dog and cheese fries, carnival rides were probably not a good idea. But, maybe next time. We just sat and hung out on the beach for the whole day. It was great to get away from the city. We had all just gotten to New York. We had all just started our first 9-5 jobs. We had all just started being “adults.” Adjusting to city life isn’t easy. Taking a nice day to relax by the beach was a great way to unwind from our stressful first couple of weeks in the city. Adulting is hard.
How do you guys unwind from the stress of city life?
